About
Tango Manchester
20+ YEARS OF TANGO - CONNECT, EXPLORE AND GROWING TOGETHER
Tango Manchester began over 20 years ago as an Argentine tango school founded by teacher and organiser Joel Daou together with a group of early tango pioneers. Later joined by Alina Kolonitskay, whose passion for music and community helped shape its growth, Tango Manchester became a recognised name within the city’s tango scene.
Today, it has evolved into a community-driven hub connecting tango across Manchester — bringing together classes, practicas, milongas and special events in one place.
At the heart of this new chapter is Tango Manchester Academy — home to TangoBar, Manchester POP UP and MamaMia — offering structured classes, workshops and training for dancers who want to learn, progress and be part of a vibrant, social tango community.
Our mission remains simple: to grow tango in Manchester through collaboration, quality teaching and an inclusive, welcoming spirit.

Our Team
Tango Manchester is powered by a dynamic team of ten.
Working across three schools under Tango Manchester Academy, the team is committed to developing new dancers, helping experienced dancers refine their skills, and growing a vibrant, connected tango community.
Through collaboration with local and international dancers and professionals, they continue to support and strengthen the scene in Manchester.
Their mission is simple: Make it easy for everyone to find places to learn, dance and enjoy tango — keeping it beautifully traditional, yet fresh, fun and cool.
"Tango is about connection, laughter, embrace — and always continuing to grow in your dance."
