​Manchester POP UP started in 2016 with John, Stephanie and a circle of tango friends who wanted something different — less formal milonga, more energy, more people, more atmosphere.

What began as a monthly gathering quickly turned into a proper tango party. The first POP UP milonga landed in the heart of Manchester on 7th February 2016, and from there it grew beyond expectations — leading to international events like The Big POP Tango Marathon and the POP UP Festivalito.

Today, Manchester POP UP is part of Tango Manchester Academy. The idea hasn’t changed: grow the local scene, create spaces for connection and quality dancing, and give dancers room to keep evolving — in music, movement and community.

Supported by the full Tango Manchester team, POP UP is determined to keep doing good things for the tango scene in Manchester — and most importantly, keep the tango party going.
